This meant that when they tried to land in Malang, it would be impossible for them to do so safely unless they were able to fix this problem before landing.
Fortunately for everyone on board, the flight crew managed to fix this issue before attempting an emergency landing at Juanda International Airport in Surabaya (SUB). The plane then touched down safely at SUB just after 9:30pm local time on Sunday night.
