Places to visit in Malang, and what they have to offer

Malang is a city located in the east of East Java, Indonesia. It has a population of about 500,000 people and it is the second largest city in East Java. Malang has many interesting places to visit, including Bromo and Tumpak Sewu Waterfall.

Bromo

Located in Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park, Bromo is a popular tourist destination in East Java, Indonesia. The name “Bromo” comes from the Javanese word “bromo” which means sulfur (brimah).

The volcano is one of several active volcanoes that form the Mount Bromo caldera complex with its neighbor volcano Batok. Together they are a major tourist attraction for visitors to Malang or Surabaya. It has erupted 39 times since 1533. Tumpak Sewu Waterfall

Tumpak Sewu waterfall is a popular tourist attraction, located in the village of Tumpak. To get there, you’ll need to take a bus or ojek (motorcycle taxi) from Malang city.

There are several stops along the way where you can get off and explore the surrounding area, including a hot spring and Hindu temple. It takes about 40 minutes to reach the waterfall by public transport, but if you have your own vehicle, it will only take 20 minutes or so.

Tumpak Sewu Waterfall is open every day except for Wednesday, with entrance fees ranging from 50k-100k rupiah depending on how long you stay there and which type of ticket you buy (single or family). If possible, try visiting during weekends when more people will be around and potentially enjoying themselves!

Batu Secret Zoo

Batu Secret Zoo is a wildlife park located in Batu, East Java. It is home to over 300 species of animals, including tigers and orangutans. The zoo opened in 2012 after being built on the former site of the Pelabuhan Ratu port.

Since it first opened its doors, this zoo has grown into one of Indonesia’s most popular tourist attractions because of its spectacular assortment of exotic flora and fauna from around the world. Coban Rondo Waterfall

The Coban Rondo Waterfall is a fantastic place to visit, especially if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The waterfall itself is located in the village of Coban Rondo, which is about an hour’s drive from Malang.

Coban Talun

The coban talun or kejawen culture is a unique tradition in Indonesia, and the village where it originated—the coban talun—is located on a hillside in east java. It was recognized as a world heritage site by UNESCO on March 15th, 2012.

The coban talun is one of the villages that belong to the kejawen community and has been recognized as such since 1987. However, this village has always been different from other kejawen villages because they have developed their own particular artistic styles and rituals that differ from those of other kejawen communities.

It’s also worth noting that some people who live within this region are not part of any specific religion but instead follow their own way of life based on traditional beliefs; this practice is known as “kebatinan”.

Jatim Park 1, 2, and 3

Jatim Park 1, 2, and 3 are all located in Malang. Jatim (short for Jawa Timur) Park 1 is the oldest of the three, dating back to the 1930s. It’s also home to a statue of Admiral Zheng He. If you’re looking for an area with historical significance or a place where you can learn more about Indonesia’s naval history, this is it!

Jatim Park 2 is the largest of these three parks with a total area of 300 hectares (3 square kilometers). It’s divided into five zones:

• Adventure Zone – here visitors can try out various outdoor activities such as kayaking or rock climbing.

• Food & Entertainment Zone – this zone offers food stalls that serve local cuisine along with shopping opportunities

Hindian Street

Hindian Street is a popular shopping street in Malang. It’s lined with shops and restaurants, and it’s a great place to shop for souvenirs. If you’re looking for something specific, there are plenty of places along Hindian Street that sell it—t-shirts, traditional handbags made from recycled tires and tin cans (called “produk barong”), jewelry, batik cloths…the list goes on!

If you’re hungry after your trip around the city and would like to grab something to eat before continuing on your travels, Hindian Street has plenty of options too: at least one food stall per block!

Cemorolawang Village

Cemorolawang Village is a village in Malang that has become a popular tourist destination. It’s known for its culture and history, and it’s also a good place to buy souvenirs. The village was once home to the Cemoro Lawang Kingdom, which existed from 1343 until the Dutch arrived in 1749. In this time period, it managed to survive multiple attacks by other kingdoms who wanted its resources (copper). Today Cemorolawang Village has been restored so you can see what it looked like back then. There are also traditional houses standing here as well as traditional festivals that take place every year.

Cemorolawang Village is one of the oldest villages in Java – Indonesia’s main island – so visiting here will give you an insight into how people used to live hundreds of years ago! It’s full of beautiful architecture as well as lots of cultural activities like cooking classes or even getting henna tattoos done by local artists at night markets during weekends where all ages come together with their families through generations.
